Hermetism and Hieratic Tradition in the <i>De mysteriis</i> of Iamblichus
Abstract
Iamblichus and the Corp.Herm. (especially 16) both stress the ritual power of barbarous names, and in both ἐξίτηλος encapsulates their shared concern about the fading of tradition and the dilution of ritual speech through translation.
